Who We Are
OUR STORY
We started out over 10 years ago as a small woodworking shop, making furniture under our founding company name of Lowry London. During our journey as a UK maker of simple, solid, sustainable wooden furniture we realized that we wanted to be able to offer our clients more than just furniture; we wanted to be able to offer them unique, handcrafted items that would help enhance their homes.
So we set out on a quest to find the best artisans and producers. With our manufacturing know-how and quality expertise we knew what we were looking for: quality, well made, thoughtful products with a sustainable supply chain. We were looking for the best of the best and, working very selectively with producers we respect, we think we've found some real treasures.
We've now expanded our product line to include recycled glassware, hand-forged cast iron hooks, and even some hand turned shaker peg boards from Shropshire. We're constantly on the lookout for new and exciting products to bring to our clients, and we can't wait to see what the future holds.

At our foundation is sustainability which is why we; plant a tree for every order we make; strive to produce as much as possible locally; and use FSC woods and sustainable materials wherever we can.

The reason we founded Folkstede was to help you create “the curated home”. Our philosophy is that your home should be like a living piece of art, where everything is chosen with love and is chosen with meaning.
There is no space in our short lives for cheap, badly made, wasteful rubbish which is discarded simply because it doesn’t (and never did) fulfil its basic function. So, we strive to source the highest quality products we can find for you to choose to become part of your life.
We believe that your home is the most important space in your life. It is part of your identity and shapes your mental and physical health. Our mission is to help you create a space in which you can thrive.
